Donate and Recycle a Preloved Book

News — Donate and Recycle a Preloved Book

We all love a day out shopping, but there’s another favourite pastime we Brits also have a passion for, and that’s enjoying some time out reading our favourite book. So, to celebrate World Book Day, we are launching our community book donation appeal.

Opening in April, ‘The Book Base’ at The Friary will provide a space to take time to relax and pick up a preloved book for free. The Book Base Library will be located in the Food Court, so perfect for grabbing a coffee and bite to eat whilst browsing for a new book to take home. The aim of this community library is to be a green sustainable local service which also enables everyone the opportunity to recycle their preloved books allowing others to either borrow it or simply swap it for one they have donated.

We need your preloved books now!

By opting to keep a preloved book in circulation, we are all making a choice which is actively preventing the book going to landfill. And whilst we are unable to undo the emissions from their initial production, we can all do our bit to ensure a carbon neutral future by keeping our old unwanted books from needlessly going to waste after a single use.

So, to get the shelves of ‘The Book Base’ fully stocked, we really need your help. We require all sorts of books that are in good condition for both adults and kids.

Please drop off your donated preloved books at the Centre Management Office located opposite MenKind on level 1 during centre opening hours.
