News — The Friary Guildford Supports Purple Tuesday
Improving the customer experience for disabled people
Almost one in every five people in the UK has a disability or impairment, and over 50% of UK households have a connection to someone with a disability. To recognise the importance and needs of disabled consumers, disability organisation, Purple, has established ‘Purple Tuesday’, a change programme which encourages all sectors to get involved, with the common goal of improving the customer experience for disabled people 365 days a year.
On Tuesday 2nd November 2021, The Friary Guildford joins many UK businesses and organisations in supporting Purple Tuesday.
Inclusive shopping is something we are very passionate about at The Friary Guildford, so we are pleased to be supporting Purple Tuesday again this year. We want to help our customers to understand that not every disability is visible, and we also want to help our disabled customers to feel safe at the Centre.
To show our support we will be lighting up the front of the Centre in purple on 2nd November!
We would also like to take this opportunity to highlight our Quiet Hour which takes place every Tuesday between 10am and 11am. This hour is to accommodate the needs of our shoppers with Autism, which involves dimming the lights and lowering the music in the Centre (store participation varies).
